Apollo cartridges: wide faces for heavy robotic joints.
Apollo heads are used where the joint has mass: lugs, connector shells, shield tabs. The range leans towards wide chisels and blades, with DN and bent codes for access.

What it is
A 200 W head needs a face that can use it.
The higher the station power, the more the face matters. A narrow conical on a 200 W head concentrates heat until the flux burns; a wide chisel spreads it across the lug and makes the joint in one pass. Apollo codes are chosen for that second behaviour.
The shaft is the constant. RDD, DS, DCS and DN share the same mounting pattern, so the choice between them is a choice of face, not of holder. We confirm the holder pattern and the overall length before quoting.
Published geometries
Apollo codes, faces and typical joints.
Face width is quoted as the class for that code. The exact A/B/C/D dimensions for a specific part number are issued with the quotation, not estimated on the page.
| Code | Face | Working width | Typical joint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apollo RDD | Chisel, wide | 4–6 mm class | Lugs and shield tabs |
| Apollo DS | Chisel | 2–4 mm class | Through-hole pins |
| Apollo DCS | Blade | 3–5 mm class | Connector rows |
| Apollo DN | Bent chisel | 2 mm class | Recessed joints |
| Apollo SG40PAD10 | Special chisel | 4 mm class | Large pads, one pass |
Codes are listed by face family. Variants with a different width, bend or reach are ground to order; send the drawing or the joint photograph and we will confirm the code.
Compatibility
What it fits — and what to check.
| Machine or holder | Interface | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Apollo RDD holder | RDD shaft | Direct fit |
| Apollo DS / DCS holder | DS / DCS shaft | Confirm length |
| UNIX holder | Different shaft pattern | Not interchangeable |
Model names describe the machine a part fits. XANJO replacement parts are independent parts, not original equipment manufacturer parts.
Dimensions
Four numbers define the part.
A is the overall length from the seat to the working face. B is the shank or body diameter. C is the width of the working face. D is the reach from the seat reference to the face — the number that decides whether the part can touch the joint without the housing fouling the board.
We hold ±0.05 mm on the shank and seat, and we issue the drawing revision with every batch. If a dimension is not measured, it does not go on the drawing: that is why some codes are marked “drawing on request” rather than filled with an estimate.
Ordering
Samples, minimums and lead time.
Apollo shafts are stocked in the common lengths; special faces are ground to order.

- Custom samples
- 5 daysground or machined on the production line
- Stocked codes
- 48 hdispatch after order confirmation
- Batch documents
- Includeddimension report, plating or face report, RoHS 3 declaration
Questions we are asked
Apollo fitting and ordering.
Which Apollo face is the general-purpose one?
DS is the usual starting point for through-hole work; DCS for drag soldering a row; RDD when the joint is a lug or a shield tab. The right answer depends on the pad, so send the dimensions.
Can I use an SG code in a standard holder?
Only if the shaft pattern matches. SG codes are wider faces on the same family, not a different holder, but the overall length still has to be confirmed.
Do you make custom Apollo profiles?
Yes, to drawing or sample. The shaft is ground first, then the face, so a custom face does not change the mounting.
Are these OEM parts?
No. XANJO replacement cartridges are independent parts.
Other Robotic & cartridge tips series
If this is not your machine.
Send the part number. We’ll send the drawing.
A code, a machine model or a photograph of the holder is enough. We reply with the geometry, the A/B/C/D drawing and the specification within one working day.
