T12 cartridges: heater and tip in one tube.
A T12 tip is not a tip in the usual sense. The heater, the sensor and the working face sit inside one tube, and the cartridge is clamped by a sleeve rather than pushed into a socket. That construction is why recovery is fast — and why seating tolerance matters.

What it is
Fast recovery comes from geometry, not from wattage claims.
Because the heater sits a few millimetres behind the working face, a T12 cartridge responds to a joint almost immediately: the sensor sees the temperature drop at the tip, not at the end of a copper barrel. The trade-off is that the tube must seat squarely in the sleeve. A cartridge that is slightly off-centre heats unevenly and the station over-compensates.
We check tube straightness and ring position on every batch, and issue the seating dimension with the quotation. The five core codes cover fine-pitch rework through to drag soldering and shield bonding.
Published geometries
T12 codes, shapes and typical joints.
Face width is quoted as the class range for that code. The exact A/B/C/D dimensions for a specific part number are issued with the quotation, not estimated on the page.
| Code | Geometry | Face width | Typical joint |
|---|---|---|---|
| T12-B | Conical | 0.5 mm class | Fine SMD, single pins |
| T12-BC2 | Bevel | 2.0 mm class | Drag soldering, small pads |
| T12-D | Chisel | 1.2–4.0 mm class | Through-hole, lugs, shields |
| T12-K | Knife | 2.0 mm class | Connector rows, multi-pin drag |
| T12-IL | Conical, long | 0.5 mm class | Reaching into recessed joints |
Codes are listed by geometry family. Variants with a different bend angle, reach or face width are ground to order; send the drawing or the joint photograph and we will confirm the code.
Compatibility
What it fits — and what to check.
| Iron or station | Handle / interface | Note |
|---|---|---|
| FX-950 / FX-951 | T12 handle | Direct fit |
| FM-203 / FM-206 | T12 handle | Direct fit |
| Clone stations | T12-compatible sleeves | Check ring spacing |
Model names describe the machine a tip fits. XANJO replacement tips are independent parts, not original equipment manufacturer parts.
Dimensions
Four numbers define a tip.
A is the overall length from the seat to the working face. B is the shank or tube diameter. C is the width of the working face. D is the reach from the seat reference to the face — the number that decides whether the tip can touch the joint without the housing fouling the board.
We hold ±0.05 mm on the shank and seat, and we issue the drawing revision with every batch. If a dimension is not measured, it does not go on the drawing: that is why some codes are marked “drawing on request” rather than filled with an estimate.

Questions we are asked
T12 fitting and ordering.
How do I know a T12 cartridge is seated correctly?
It should slide into the sleeve without force and sit flush at the collar, with no rocking when the tip is touched. If the station shows a temperature error or the tip discolours near the collar, the cartridge is not making full contact. We supply the seating dimension with each batch.
Is a T12 cartridge repairable?
No. The heater, sensor and working face are one sealed unit; when the iron layer is dissolved the cartridge is replaced. That is also why plating thickness matters more here than on a separate tip.
Can I use T12 cartridges in a 900M iron?
No. The interfaces are different: a 900M tip is push-fit with a separate heater, a T12 cartridge is clamped by a contact sleeve. They are not interchangeable.
Are these original manufacturer parts?
No. T12 describes the machine interface. XANJO cartridges are independent replacement parts and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any original equipment manufacturer.

If this is not your iron.
Send the part number. We’ll send the drawing.
A code, an iron model or a photograph of the socket is enough. We reply with the geometry, the A/B/C/D drawing and the plating specification within one working day.
