900M series soldering tips: the straight-barrel standard.
The 900M seat is the most widely used hand-soldering interface in repair and small-series assembly: a straight barrel, a push-fit socket and a separate ceramic heater inside the iron. We grind the full geometry range on one line, to a ±0.05 mm shank tolerance.

What it is
The tip that made the pattern universal.
Almost every repair bench in Europe has at least one iron that takes a 900M tip, and almost every distributor carries a box of them. That volume is exactly why the geometry matters more than the brand on the box: a 0.5 mm conical and a 2.4 mm chisel both fit the same socket, but only one of them will make the joint in front of you.
We publish the geometry family, the working-face class and the seat dimensions, then confirm the exact A/B/C/D drawing against your part number before the order is released. If you only have the iron, send a photograph of the socket — the seat profile is usually enough to identify it.
Published geometries
900M codes, shapes and typical joints.
Face width is quoted as the class range for that code. The exact A/B/C/D dimensions for a specific part number are issued with the quotation, not estimated on the page.
| Code | Geometry | Face width | Typical joint |
|---|---|---|---|
| 900M-T-B | Conical | 0.5 mm class | Single pins, fine SMD pads |
| 900M-T-I | Conical, fine | 0.2–0.3 mm class | 0.4–0.5 mm pitch rework |
| 900M-T-J | Conical, bent | 0.2–0.3 mm class | Reaching under a tall component |
| 900M-T-K | Knife | 2.0 mm class | Drag soldering connector rows |
| 900M-T-SK | Knife, bent | 2.0 mm class | Drag soldering where the housing is close |
| 900M-T-1C / 2C / 3C / 4C | Horseshoe | 1.0–4.0 mm class | Through-hole pins, stored heat |
| 900M-T-1.2D / 1.6D / 2.4D / 3.2D / 4D | Chisel | 1.2–4.0 mm class | General pads, lugs, shields |
| 900M-T-LI / LB | Bent conical | 0.5–1.0 mm class | Dense boards, low clearance |
Codes are listed by geometry family. Variants with a different bend angle, reach or face width are ground to order; send the drawing or the joint photograph and we will confirm the code.
Compatibility
What it fits — and what to check.
| Iron or station | Handle / interface | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 900M-pattern irons | 907, 908, 936, 937, FX-888 handles | Direct seat |
| FX-888D / FX-889 | T18 designation, same socket family | Confirm housing depth |
| Clone stations | 900M-compatible handles | Check barrel length |
Model names describe the machine a tip fits. XANJO replacement tips are independent parts, not original equipment manufacturer parts.
Dimensions
Four numbers define a tip.
A is the overall length from the seat to the working face. B is the shank or tube diameter. C is the width of the working face. D is the reach from the seat reference to the face — the number that decides whether the tip can touch the joint without the housing fouling the board.
We hold ±0.05 mm on the shank and seat, and we issue the drawing revision with every batch. If a dimension is not measured, it does not go on the drawing: that is why some codes are marked “drawing on request” rather than filled with an estimate.

Questions we are asked
900M fitting and ordering.
Will a 900M tip fit my iron?
If the iron takes a 900M-pattern push-fit tip, yes. The seat is a straight barrel with a fixed insertion depth, used on 907, 908, 936 and FX-888 handles and on most compatible stations. Housing depth varies between clones, so send the iron model or a photograph of the empty socket and we confirm the barrel length before shipping.
What is the difference between 900M and T18?
They are two designations for the same push-fit hand-soldering family: T18 is the code used with the FX-888D generation of irons, 900M with the earlier 900 series. The seat is interchangeable on most irons, but the shank length and the housing clearance differ slightly, so we confirm per iron rather than assume.
Can you supply a geometry that is not in the table?
Yes. Custom profiles are ground on the same line as the standard range, with samples in five working days and a minimum order of 20 pieces. A drawing, a sample tip or a photograph of the joint is enough to start.
Are these original manufacturer parts?
No. XANJO makes independent replacement parts. 900M and T18 describe the machine interface and are used here only to explain compatibility. XANJO is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any original equipment manufacturer.
Other hand soldering series
If this is not your iron.
Send the part number. We’ll send the drawing.
A code, an iron model or a photograph of the socket is enough. We reply with the geometry, the A/B/C/D drawing and the plating specification within one working day.
