Slot nozzles: a curtain, not a point.
A slot nozzle releases a rectangular curtain of solder across several pins at once. The slot length sets the coverage; the slot width and the edge set the height and stability of the curtain.

What it is
The ends of the slot are where bridging starts.
A slot nozzle is judged by the two ends of the curtain. If the corners are sharp, solder lingers there and bridges to the last pin; if the ends are broken correctly, the curtain rises and falls cleanly. We machine the slot, lap the face and break the corners as part of the same operation.
Slot width controls the volume of solder per pass; slot length controls how many pins are covered. A wider slot is more forgiving on thermal mass but less forgiving on pitch, so the two dimensions are chosen together.
Published geometries
Slot codes, faces and typical joints.
Face width is quoted as the class for that code. The exact A/B/C/D dimensions for a specific part number are issued with the quotation, not estimated on the page.
| Code | Face | Working width | Typical joint |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-4 | Slot | 4 mm slot | Short connector row |
| S-6 | Slot | 6 mm slot | Standard row |
| S-8 | Slot | 8 mm slot | Wide row |
| S-10 | Slot | 10 mm slot | Long row |
| S-6W | Slot, wide | 6 mm slot, wider | More solder volume |
| Custom | Slot | to drawing | Mixed pitch |
Codes are listed by face family. Variants with a different width, bend or reach are ground to order; send the drawing or the joint photograph and we will confirm the code.
Compatibility
What it fits — and what to check.
| Machine or holder | Interface | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Slot nozzle holder | rectangular orifice | Confirm slot length |
| Selective wave machine | slot nozzle | Confirm body length |
| Point holder | round orifice | Use point series |
Model names describe the machine a part fits. XANJO replacement parts are independent parts, not original equipment manufacturer parts.
Dimensions
Four numbers define the part.
A is the overall length from the seat to the working face. B is the shank or body diameter. C is the width of the working face. D is the reach from the seat reference to the face — the number that decides whether the part can touch the joint without the housing fouling the board.
We hold ±0.05 mm on the shank and seat, and we issue the drawing revision with every batch. If a dimension is not measured, it does not go on the drawing: that is why some codes are marked “drawing on request” rather than filled with an estimate.

Questions we are asked
Slot fitting and ordering.
How do I choose slot length?
Match it to the row you need to cover in one pass, plus a small margin at each end. A slot that is too long wastes solder and increases bridging at the ends.
Why do the ends of my row bridge?
Usually because the slot corners are sharp or the edge is worn. A broken corner releases the curtain cleanly; a sharp one holds solder.
Can you make a slot with a non-standard width?
Yes, the slot is machined to the drawing. Send the length, the width and the pitch.
Are these OEM parts?
No. XANJO nozzles are independent replacement parts.

If this is not your machine.
Send the part number. We’ll send the drawing.
A code, a machine model or a photograph of the holder is enough. We reply with the geometry, the A/B/C/D drawing and the specification within one working day.
